Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of this symposium? To provide science-based information to the general public and sportsmen on the impact improperly managed predator populations have on other wildlife, hunter opportunity, and hunter success. Without sustainable game populations, hunter opportunity declines and with declines in hunters comes a decline in conservation funds for our state.

Does the Oregon Outdoor Council want to eliminate predators? Absolutely not! The cougar is an amazing creature, part of the overall ecosystem, and an excellent food source. Cougar meat is often related to a lean pork and very tasty! Learn more about the cougar issue here: “Cougars in Metro Portland? Yes, and Here’s Why!”
I’m not a hunter, am I welcome to attend? Absolutely! Come with an open mind and a notepad. As with any organized event, any individuals causing a disturbance will be removed.
